Description
Built in 1536 in honour of the Yemeni sheikh Abdullah al-Yamani, known as Mir Arab, this madrasah is one of the very few in Central Asia that still functions as a religious school. Its twin blue domes, paired with the Kalyan Minaret across the square, form the most recognisable silhouette in Bukhara. Remarkably, it remained open through most of the Soviet era. As it is an active seminary, interior access is restricted, but the portal and courtyard are clearly visible from the gate.
