Description
According to legend, the prophet Job (Ayub) struck the ground with his staff and a healing spring burst forth — Chashma-Ayub was raised directly over that well. The oldest part of the building dates to the 12th century, while the unusual conical dome was added in the Timurid era by master builders brought from Khorezm. Its four chambers, built in different periods, each carry a differently shaped dome. Inside is a small museum on the history of Bukhara's water supply, and the spring still flows today.
